False Reports of an Imminent Fuel and Gas Shortage in Senegal
Dakar, May 11, 2026
PETROSEN wishes to formally refute false reports alleging an imminent shortage of gas, petrol, and diesel in Senegal.
The company has noted the circulation of a fake statement, widely shared in recent hours across social media platforms and messaging channels, falsely attributed to PETROSEN and claiming that the company had announced an impending shortage of petroleum products in the country.
PETROSEN categorically denies these false and misleading claims, which seek to create unnecessary concern and spread fear and panic among the public.
At this time, no disruption has been recorded in the national supply of petroleum or gas products. Senegal’s fuel importation, storage, and distribution systems remain fully operational and continue to function normally in coordination with the relevant authorities and industry stakeholders.
PETROSEN therefore urges the public, its partners, and all actors within the energy sector to rely solely on the company’s official communication channels, as well as those of the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, for verified information relating to the sector and the company’s operations.
The company further reserves the right to pursue all appropriate legal action against the originators and distributors of this false information, which can undermine public confidence and disrupt public order.

Prétendue pénurie imminente de gaz, d’essence et de gasoil au Sénégal PETROSEN dément catégoriquement cette information infondée.
PETROSEN informe le public, ses partenaires et l’ensemble des acteurs du secteur de l’énergie qu’un faux communiqué, largement diffusé ces dernières heures sur les réseaux sociaux et certains canaux de messagerie, annonce à tort une prétendue pénurie imminente de gaz, d’essence et de gasoil au Sénégal, que l’entreprise aurait prétendument diffusé.
La Direction Générale tient à démentir formellement et sans équivoque ces informations infondées, susceptibles de semer le doute et la confusion au sein de l’opinion publique.
À ce jour, aucune perturbation de l’approvisionnement national en produits pétroliers et gaziers n’est signalée. Le dispositif national d’importation, de stockage et de distribution de produits pétroliers fonctionne normalement, en coordination avec les autorités compétentes et les acteurs du secteur.
PETROSEN appelle le public à la vigilance et invite chacun à se référer exclusivement aux canaux de communication officiels de l’entreprise ainsi qu’à ceux du Ministère de l’Énergie, du Pétrole et des Mines pour toute information relative à ses missions et activités.
PETROSEN se réserve par ailleurs le droit d’engager toute action nécessaire contre les auteurs et diffuseurs de ces fausses informations, susceptibles de semer la confusion et de porter atteinte à la tranquillité publique.
